Scoring Assistant Position
AMRA’s Scoring Team is growing! We have recently added live, cloud-based scoring to AMRA’s series and we are looking for a passionate individual to contribute to the series’ success on race days. Come support our racers by helping ensure timely and accurate results.
The Role
The Scoring Assistant works alongside the Scoring Expert on event weekends to support scoring operations from start to finish. The Scoring Expert carries primary responsibility for results — your job is to be a reliable right hand, helping things run smoothly on the technical and organizational side. This is a hands-on role that blends technical skills with people coordination. Full training on AMRA’s specific scoring systems and processes will be provided.
What You’ll Do
-
Assist the Scoring Expert with all aspects of race-day scoring operations, including setup, live scoring, and teardown.
-
Organize and assist club volunteers, helping them understand their roles and keeping efforts aligned with the scoring team’s needs.
-
Register racers using electronic equipment and associate RFID tags to individual riders.
-
Set up and maintain personal hotspots and wireless networks to support AMRA’s live, cloud-based scoring platform, ensuring reliable connectivity so results publish in real time.
-
Operate and support the use of electronic scoring and timing equipment throughout each event.
-
Assist in troubleshooting protested results through rigorous comparison of handwritten backup sheets to electronic scoring data.
What We’re Looking For
-
Ability to commit to the full race season — continuity matters, and we need someone the scoring team can count on at every event.
-
Comfort with technology — you don’t need to be an IT professional, but you should be willing to learn and troubleshoot electronic timing equipment, wireless networking, and cloud-based software.
-
Strong attention to detail, especially when reconciling backup records against electronic results.
-
Strong organizational and communication skills for coordinating volunteers in a fast-paced race-day environment.
-
Reliability and a positive attitude on long event days.
-
A passion for racing or the AMRA community is a big plus.
Compensation
$200 per event, plus free event admission (gate fees).
