Updated 2026 AMA Mini Rules – Super Mini Age Clarification
The AMA has issued an update on youth mini-class eligibility for the 2026 racing season.
Updated AMA Youth Mini Class Rules:
• Youth riders may no longer compete in youth mini classes once they turn 17 years old.
(Riders may not race the Super Mini class if they turn 17 at any time during the race year.)
• Super Mini age range changes from 12–16 to 12–15 years old.
(Riders who are 15 years old as of January 1 may race the Super Mini class for that race year.)
These updates align AMRA youth classes with the current AMA rulebook requirements.
If you have questions about class eligibility, please contact the AMRA bike stewards.

There are no exceptions to this requirement.
Mini Rider Race Rules
To keep competition fair and consistent across the series, the following rules apply to all AMRA mini racers:
-
Riders must take the checkered flag to be considered a finisher.
-
The 50% lap rule used in big bike classes does not apply to mini riders.
-
A rider’s age at the first scheduled race of the season determines their age class for the entire year.
-
Riders may move to the next higher youth class if they will become eligible during the racing year.
-
Once a rider moves to a higher class in AMA or non-AMA competition, they may not move back to the lower class.
Series Points & Awards
To be eligible for AMRA year-end awards, riders must:
-
Race at least 50% of the series events.
-
If the total number of events is odd, the number is rounded down when calculating 50% participation.
-
A maximum of one (1) drop race is allowed for the Mini Bike series.
Youth Safety Rules
Safety is a top priority for AMRA youth racing.
All mini riders must follow these safety requirements:
-
Chest protectors are required for all mini riders.
-
In accordance with AMA regulations, GoPro cameras or similar devices cannot be mounted on top of helmets.
