AMRA Executive Board 2027: Which Leadership Role Could Be Right for You?
There is more than one way to help lead AMRA.
Applications are open for four AMRA Executive Board positions for 2027: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Each position serves a different purpose, requires different strengths and plays a role in keeping the Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association and its race series moving forward.
If you have thought about getting more involved but aren't sure where you might fit, start by looking at what each position actually does.
You may find that one of them lines up surprisingly well with the skills and experience you already have.
Meet the AMRA Executive Board 2027 Positions
The AMRA Executive Board works with the Competition Committee, clubs and other AMRA officials to support the organization and its race series.
Here is a closer look at the four positions open for the 2027 election.
President: Bring People Together and Lead the Organization
The AMRA President is the principal executive officer of the organization and is ultimately accountable for AMRA's day-to-day operations.
A major part of the position is making sure the Competition Committee and AMRA clubs work together to put on a quality race series. That requires diplomacy, collaboration and a shared focus on growing both the series and the sport.
The President also:
Presides over Officer and Competition Committee meetings.
Has general oversight of AMRA's business, affairs and property, subject to the control of the Competition Committee.
Provides oversight of AMRA agents, officers and employees.
Performs additional duties and exercises powers assigned through AMRA bylaws or by the Competition Committee.
For someone who enjoys bringing people together, solving problems and helping different groups work toward a common goal, the President position offers an opportunity to make a significant contribution to AMRA.
Vice President: Support, Communicate and Help Grow the Series
The Vice President works closely with the President while serving as another important connection between AMRA leadership, clubs and the racing community.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting and assisting the President.
Helping represent AMRA at organizational functions.
Providing leadership for Officers, Appointees and Club Officials.
Helping ensure effective communication between clubs and AMRA Officials.
Providing oversight to help maintain the quality of the series.
Helping develop the series based on the vision established through the Competition Committee.
Coordinating or assisting with other series promoters on co-sanction opportunities.
Helping answer questions from current and potential series participants.
Attending Competition Committee meetings and presenting a Vice President report.
Working with the President to plan the AMRA Year End Awards Banquet.
It is a collaborative position with involvement across many parts of AMRA.
Secretary: Keep AMRA's Official Business Organized
Good organizations depend on good records, and that is a major part of the Secretary's role.
The Secretary keeps the minutes of Competition Committee meetings and helps ensure required notices are properly provided in accordance with AMRA bylaws and applicable law.
The Secretary also:
Serves as custodian of AMRA corporate records and the corporate seal.
Ensures the corporate seal is affixed to authorized documents when required.
Performs the duties associated with the office of Secretary.
Handles additional responsibilities assigned by the President or Competition Committee.
For someone who values organization, documentation and keeping important information in order, this role provides essential support to AMRA's operations.
Treasurer: AMRA Needs Someone New for 2027
The Treasurer position is especially important in this year's election.
Marshall Gerston is stepping down at the end of 2026 after serving as AMRA Treasurer for the past two years. That means AMRA will need someone new to fill the position for 2027.
The Treasurer is responsible for:
AMRA funds and securities.
Receiving and providing receipts for money due and payable to AMRA.
Depositing money received by AMRA into approved banks or other depositories.
Filing annual reports.
Preparing a Treasurer report for each Competition Committee meeting.
Performing additional duties assigned by the President or Competition Committee.
While President, Vice President and Secretary are open for election, the current officers may continue serving if no other candidates apply. Treasurer is different this year. With Marshall leaving the position, AMRA needs a new person to take over the role.
Different Roles Need Different Strengths
There isn't one type of person who belongs on the AMRA Executive Board.
Someone may be great at bringing different groups together. Another person may thrive on organization and details. Someone else may be comfortable handling financial records, while another may enjoy communication, planning and helping develop the series.
That's why it is worth looking beyond the position titles.
Read through the responsibilities. Think about what you already do well in your career, business, club or everyday life. Skills developed outside of AMRA may be exactly what you can bring to the organization.
You don't have to be right for every position.
You may be right for one.

AMRA is powered by volunteers, from the people working behind the scenes to those helping make race weekends happen.
Serving on the AMRA Executive Board 2027 is another opportunity to contribute.
It gives members a chance to bring their experience, ideas and perspective to the organization while working with others who care about AMRA and Arizona off-road motorcycle racing.

Apply for the AMRA Executive Board by Oct. 28
Applications for the 2027 AMRA Executive Board are due Oct. 28, 2026.
Voting will take place Nov. 19 at the Competition Committee Meeting, and new board members will transition into their positions during December.
