AMRA Volunteer Opportunities: Help Keep Arizona Off-Road Racing Moving
Every AMRA race starts long before the first bike hits the course.
Behind each race weekend are club members, race crews, course workers, officers and volunteers putting in the time to make it happen. Some are highly visible.
Others are working behind the scenes. All of them play a part in keeping the Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association and its racing series moving forward.
That volunteer spirit has always been an important part of AMRA.
As we prepare for the 2027 season, there is another way members can get involved: helping lead the organization.
Applications are currently open for the 2027 AMRA Executive Board.
AMRA Volunteer Opportunities Include Leadership
Volunteering with AMRA isn't limited to race weekend.
Serving on the Executive Board gives members an opportunity to contribute their experience, skills and ideas to the organization throughout the year.
The four Executive Board positions open for the 2027 election are:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Each position has different responsibilities, but together the Executive Board helps keep AMRA operating and supports the organization and its clubs.
For members looking for AMRA volunteer opportunities beyond race-day involvement, serving in a leadership position is one way to make a meaningful contribution.
You Don't Have to Have All the Answers
It can be easy to look at an officer position and assume it should be filled by someone else.
Someone with more experience. Someone who has been around longer. Someone who already knows everything about running AMRA.
But volunteer organizations depend on people being willing to get involved.
What matters is caring about AMRA, being willing to contribute and being prepared to take responsibility for the position you accept.
Maybe you have organizational skills that could help. Maybe you communicate well and enjoy working with people. Maybe you have ideas about the future of the series. Or perhaps you've been part of AMRA for years and are ready to contribute in a different way.
Different people bring different strengths to the table.
AMRA Needs a New Treasurer for 2027
One Executive Board position has an especially important transition ahead.
After serving as AMRA Treasurer for the past two years, Marshall Gerston is stepping down at the end of 2026.
The President, Vice President and Secretary positions are open for election, but the current officers may continue serving if no other candidates apply. Treasurer is different. With Marshall leaving the position, AMRA will need a new Treasurer for 2027.
The Treasurer is responsible for AMRA's funds and securities, receiving and recording money paid to the organization, making deposits, filing annual reports and preparing Treasurer reports for Competition Committee meetings.
Members who are organized, dependable and comfortable working with financial records may want to take a closer look at the position.
Why Volunteer With AMRA?
AMRA brings riders together through off-road motorcycle racing, but the organization doesn't operate on race entries alone.
People make it work.
Every person who gives their time allows another piece of the organization to function. Leadership is part of that same volunteer effort.
Serving on the Executive Board also gives members an opportunity to participate more directly in AMRA. If you've had ideas, identified opportunities or simply wanted to become more involved, applying for a position gives you a way to bring that perspective to the organization.

Applications for the 2027 AMRA Executive Board are due Oct. 28, 2026.
Voting will take place Nov. 19 at the Competition Committee Meeting. New board members will transition into their positions during December ahead of the 2027 season.
