The Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association (AMRA) is proud to work with dedicated off-road motorcycle clubs that help preserve and promote the sport throughout the state. In this 2025 AMRA Club Spotlight, we’re featuring the Coconino Trail Riders (CTR), a Northern Arizona-based non-profit committed to protecting and expanding off-road motorcycle opportunities.
About the Coconino Trail Riders
Coconino Trail Riders began in the early 1980s as an informal group of friends who shared a passion for technical single-track riding. In 2003, proposed changes to U.S. Forest Service land-use policy threatened long-enjoyed riding areas. This sparked the formal creation of CTR, allowing members to unite as a voice for the off-road motorcycle community and advocate for responsible trail use.
Our Mission
CTR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving motorized single-track trail riding. The club works closely with land managers, including the U.S. Forest Service, to protect, maintain, and expand off-road motorcycle access on public lands. They also promote trail etiquette, partner on maintenance and construction projects, and support other established off-road advocacy groups.
Trail Advocacy and Projects
Over the years, CTR has played a crucial role in shaping Arizona’s off-road landscape. They have collaborated with the Forest Service on grant-funded projects, engaged in public education campaigns, and submitted formal comments to influence policy decisions. Their advocacy led to the development of environmentally sensitive legal routes, such as the Kelly Canyon Trail System. More recently, CTR partnered in the creation of the White Hills trail system in Cornville, Arizona.
