ATR Hosting Annual Camp Wood Enduro Race – Celebrating Camp Wood Race History in the AMRA Championship Series

ATR-Camp Wood Endura Race

Camp Wood is more than just a remote racing location, it’s a site with deep Arizona history and a strong enduro racing legacy.

  • Originally a U.S. Cavalry post in the Prescott National Forest, the area also housed a CCC camp, lumber mill, and post office during the 1930s.

  • Racing at Camp Wood began in the mid-1970s with the Arizona Desert Racing Association and quickly earned a reputation as one of the toughest events.

  • In 2006, ATR and AMRA introduced the Sheridan Mountain Smith Mesa trail system to racers, and shortly after, the event officially evolved into the Camp Wood Enduro Race, a true test of endurance on Arizona’s rocky trails.

The Camp Wood Enduro Race Tradition

Since its first ATR/AMRA enduro in 2007, Camp Wood has remained a cornerstone of the AMRA series. With the support of the Prescott National Forest, ATR transitioned the race format to enduro, ensuring sustainable trail use while keeping the race thrilling and challenging year after year.

Experience the Camp Wood Enduro Race Legacy

The annual Camp Wood Enduro Race is more than just competition—it’s tradition, community, and a true test of endurance. ATR extends gratitude to AMRA, Prescott National Forest, and all the racers and sponsors who make this event possible.
